It's been 24 hours since tornadoes tore through central Palm Beach County ahead of Hurricane Milton.

Megan Shirley was putting up her hurricane shutters when she saw one of the tornadoes that preceded Milton coming straight for her. CBS12 News Victoria De Cardenas shares her story.

“I was outside when the tornado was coming,” Shirley recounted. “I was actually back there shuttering so that’s where my son and I were, and I ran inside. She, my best friend, was sitting right here where the impaled glass on the wall is.” She recalled how she came home from work Wednesday and decided to go ahead and put up her hurricane shutters. That’s when she heard a noise she will never forget.

From floor to ceiling, nothing was spared. Even her hurricane-proof windows blew out. But, her family was safe.
