The Logan County Sheriff confirmed four people were killed during a Thursday night tornado outbreak.Severe weather battered much of Central Ohio Thursday night, as tornado watches and warnings were issued across most counties throughout the ABC 6/FOX 28 viewing area.
As of 10:40 p.m. Thursday, all tornado warnings had expired but a tornado watch remained in effect for Franklin County, and other counties, until at least midnight.Amber Fagan, the president and CEO of the Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, told ABC 6 what happened in that area about 70 miles northwest of Columbus."Our Lakeview municipal building is demolished. Our laundromat is gone. The old plastics building is just completely demolished. Downtown, it's bad.
Two other men in Russells Point told ABC 6's Stephanie Duprey that the storm sounded like a freight train. "I was just sitting there eating some chicken, and then I heard that freight train coming," one of the men said. "The tree hit my boat. It smashed my boat."First responders from neighboring counties are assisting local police and EMS. Indian Lake Schools canceled classes for Friday and said it will open as a shelter soon.The Logan County EMA is NOT requesting volunteers at this time. Spontaneous and unaffiliated volunteers are not being utilized.
