Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes star Owen Teague reveals the advice he got from Andy Serkis, who played Caesar. Serving as the fourth film in the rebooted Planet of the Apes series, the upcoming sequel is directed by Wes Ball from a script by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Patrick Aison. The film will follow Caesar's son Cornelius, reportedly played by Teague, years after the events of Matt Reeves' 2017 trilogy-capper War for the Planet of the Apes.
“Well, we all talked to Andy Serkis. He and I had a meeting, and he was part of why I became an actor. So this was something that I’d been wanting to do my entire life, and it was literally a dream come true to get to do this job and play this character. “The rest of motion capture is just what you would do otherwise, and the difference between a human and whatever you’re playing just becomes a costume, so you don’t even really think about it that much. It’s just acting and it’s no different. So I took to it very quickly and very happily, and it’s something that I’d like to do a lot more of. So I hope I get to, because I really enjoy it.
Andy Serkis' Motion Capture History Explained Serkis is now perhaps the actor who is most widely recognized for motion capture performances. Although he has also appeared in a number of live-action roles, his motion capture work is truly legendary. He played Caesar across all three films in the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise, but his work in the space began far earlier.
