Devin Booker put on a 51-point show in Wednesday's 132-113 victory over Chicago at Footprint Center that left everyone in the arena in awe.
Booker’s 51 is the most any Suns player has ever scored in the arena that opened in 1992. Gilbert Arenas has the arena record with 54 back in December 2006 when leading Washington to victory to snap Phoenix's 15-game winning streak
“It feels good,” Booker said. “This is one of the nights where it was falling. Those games where I miss a lot of shots, I have to keep shooting them. I train enough where I know I am supposed to make them. Unbelievable screens tonight, unbelievable team game, and beginning to end, we played really well.”“He just got too into rhythm and a guy like that gets hot, it is too late,” LaVine said.
Donovan called upon Derrick Jones Jr., who was with the Suns on Booker’s career-best 70-point night in Boston back in March 2017, to guard the three-time All-Star.“That is just D-Book doing D-Book man,” Suns big Deandre Ayton said. “I’ve seen it a lot. It was a great performance. It was all in the offense as well. We were getting hits, and he was taking what they gave him. Simple as that, he was in motion and in flow. When he is on like that, it is pretty hard to stop him.
“He really, really, really got it going,” Donovan later said. “We were in a box-and-one at that point in time and when he was coming off, I almost had to recognize the guy has 40-something points. Go get him. Let’s get the ball out of his hands. We had not spent a lot of time with the box-and-one, but that’s what we went to, and that’s when I called that timeout because the guy was in the box, on him, got screened and he has to go over there to provide help when that happens.
"You hate to say 'classic Book' cause that would mean you almost take it for granted, but the way he scored tonight against different defenses."
