Before Bluey, Australian kids loved a pencil-nosed, moon-dwelling marionette. Now he and his cast of characters have found a new home.

Mr Squiggle, the pencil-nosed puppet and star of the ABC children’s show beloved by generations, is to live again on display at the National Museum of Australia.became one of the most popular and longest-running children’s programs in Australia.

Hetherington’s daughter Rebecca, who was presenter for the last 10 years of the show said the trick remains a family secret.“It’s simple, it’s clever, it’s complicated, and my father did it for 40 years, and it was second nature. That’s all I can tell you.” Jensen said the museum intended to bring Mr Squiggle and his creator back to public attention because they remained such a treasured part of people’s childhood.
