“I thought it was a great opportunity,” Mireles said. “Martin Luther King’s message is equality and justice for all. I want to bring justice to Eva and all the kids and what happened to them.”
She grew up in Uvalde but moved to San Antonio to work as a clinical supervisor at a pediatrics office. Still, since her sister passed, she spends most weekends back in Uvalde with family. He’d sometimes come with a community group such as his daughter’s dance team in previous years. This time he walked closely behind the group from Uvalde.
