Top Fuel racers Tony Stewart and wife Leah Pruett are the parents of son Dominic James, born Sunday morning at Phoenix, just hours before the start of the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at Pomona Dragstrip. Stewart was back at the racetrack in Southern California around 8 a.m. local time, in time for his first-round meeting with Billy Torrence.Pruett, 36, is a 12-time event winner in the Top Fuel category. She is on leave from NHRA competition and says she is unlikely to race in 2025.
The 53-year-old Stewart, who is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, is racing Pruett's car in 2024.In a span of about 10 hours, Stewart raced to Phoenix to be present with dragster-driving wife Leah Pruett for the birth of son, flew back to Pomona to compete in the In-N-Out Burger Finals, and powered to a semifinal finish.After his opening-round triumph he said, “I don’t care what happens. I won at 4:43 this morning when Leah gave birth to our son.
