Artist Avery Singer is known for futuristic, computer-generated paintings. For her latest exhibition, however, she’s looking to her past, exploring a childhood affected by 9/11.
Singer in her Brooklyn studio. “I can always pursue failure and learn something,” she says. “I usually find that the works that I agonize the most over are the ones that end up being the most rewarding.”
As the daughter of two artists, Avery Singer grew up in a lively downtown Manhattan loft that also served as her parents’ studios. Named after painter Milton Avery, Singer, 35, has formative memories of not only her creative upbringing but also the surrounding buildings, including the Twin Towers, just two blocks away, which fell when she was a teenager.Continue reading your article with
