The superhero genre might be stuffed full of options, led by the all-conquering Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that hasn’t stopped some from breaking boundaries and offering fresh new takes that seem to unite fans of the often divisive genre in harmony.
One such success was the British series Supacell, which debuted in the Summer of 2024 to much more acclaim than even its own creator, Rapman, had likely expected. Led by Doctor Who alum Tosin Cole, the show powered its way into the Netflix global top 10 and deservedly earned itself a second season renewal. Ever since that Season 2 renewal, fans have been speculating what might be next in store for Michael Lasaki and the rest of the sickle cell superheroes, especially following the mind-blowing finale of Season 1. Well, thanks to Radio Times, Rapman has given fans their biggest update yet on what the second season might involve. During an interview on the BAFTA Television Awards red carpet, Rapman said of Season 2: "It gets dark, that's all I can say! It gets really, really dark. If you followed season one and you saw how things ended, the emotions are just... everything's running higher now."
