The exact closing date is still up in the air.
Val’s, a classic steakhouse at 2468 Junipero Serra Blvd. in Daly City, is set to close by the end of the year, according to theA fixture in the Daly City community, the restaurant was known for slabs of juicy prime rib, tender beef medallions and French dip sandwiches.
“At lunch time our most popular is the French dip sandwich — best in Northern California,” co-owner Jeff Taylor told theThe large green sign out front with red neon lights that read, “Val’s, charcoal broiled steaks, lunch, dinners, cocktails,” has shined brightly on Junipero Serra Boulevard since 1950 when it first opened.
“I really can’t believe this place is closing,” Larry wrote in his Facebook post. “When I was a kid I used to say to my dad ‘There’s your restaurant!’ Had some really great times here over the years. It breaks my heart.”
