Israelis are turning out in droves to gun stores and shooting centres as they arm themselves to protect their families amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas.
Sales of firearms have spiked in the days and weeks following the October 7 air, land and sea attack from the terror group, which has left at least 1,400 Israelis dead.
"I have never held a pistole before and I never wanted one. But because of the situation now in Israel, I don't feel I have a choice." he told The Times. It is not only men either, women are also arming themselves as they also fear for their lives, especially while sleeping at night. A worker at the Jerusalem Shooting Ranges told The Times it had been"crazy" seeing the amount of people coming into the shop since the assault three weeks ago.
He had pledged to significantly increase the number of permits allowed from 2,000 to 10,000 per month and drop the wait time to about 30 to 60 days. It comes as Israel's Defence Forces told residents in Gaza to move south ahead of an imminent ground invasion in what it said was to eliminate Hamas terrorists.
