The University of Sydney locked pro-Palestinian activists in a room with senior Israeli university staff for an hour and a half.

Tel Aviv University officials locked in room with pro-Palestine activists at Sydney University after being targeted in protest

Tel Aviv University sources told Sky News that that the two female representatives present didn’t think they should have to succumb to the demands of the protesters and leave, seeing as they had flown from Israel for the collaboration with the University of Sydney. Footage from inside the room shows security guards standing outside and blocking the entrance to the hall where the Israeli academics were stationed, alongside university representatives from Germany, Canada, the US and Taiwan.

The University of Sydney said the incident was now under investigation, but denied anyone was detained. "Protests may be rowdy and spirited, but they cannot interfere with the rights and freedoms of others and this incident is under investigation."
