Israeli police storm Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem’s Old City during a sensitive holiday season, raising the specter of an escalation in violence.

The U.S. is so far empty-handed in dealing with Israel’s radical government and dysfunctional Palestinian leadership., scores of Muslim worshipers have been trying to stay overnight in the mosque, a practice that is typically permitted only during the last 10 days of the monthlong holiday.
