The Israeli military said Thursday it captured an area on the western side of the Jabalia refugee camp, north of Gaza City, after a 10-hour gunbattle with Hamas that unfolded in tunnels and on city streets that have become a wasteland. Israel troops fought amid destroyed buildings, backed up by tanks, and with armored bulldozers clearing a path through the rubble, pictures released by Israel Defense Forces showed.
