A fast end to hostilities in the Middle East would suit the Albanese government as it tries to focus on cost of living.

In contrast, Dutton firmly plants his flag on the side of law and order, and standing firm against Islamist terrorism.
The record of faith-based parties is mixed in Australian politics. While Muslims make up 25 per cent and a third of voters in the highest profile challenges to senior ministers Tony Burke and Jason Clare, sectarian and ethnic differences mean it cannot be assumed they will move in unison.
