Israel's military massed troops on the border with Gaza as airstrikes pummeled the Palestinian enclave in the wake of Saturday's attack by Hamas.
BEIJING—An employee of Israel's embassy in Beijing was attacked Friday and hospitalized, a spokesperson for the embassy said, adding that the person is in stable condition. It wasn't immediately known who carried out the attack, which the spokesperson said was currently being investigated.
A person familiar with the matter said the victim, a diplomatic passport holder, had been stabbed in the attack. A statement from the embassy spokesperson confirmed the attack occurred in Beijing but said that it didn't happen in the area around the embassy, which is down the street from the U.S. embassy's sprawling compound. The area is heavily guarded by Chinese authorities.
