President Biden said Wednesday that the U.S. is working on “every aspect” of the hostage situation in Israel, including “deploying experts to advise and assist with recovery efforts.” At an event with Jewish community leaders at the White House, Biden said he couldn’t reveal all the details of what the U.S. is doing to free the American hostages, but added, “Folks, there's a lot we’re doing.
I have not given up hope of bringing these folks home.” At least 20 Americans in Israel are still missing after Hamas launched deadly attacks last weekend. Biden also said he has asked Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland to work with Jewish leaders to provide security “around Jewish life in America” and to prevent and disrupt emerging threats. “We're also going to condemn and combat antisemitism at every single turn,” Biden said.
