Israel and militants blame each other for an explosion at a hospital compound in Gaza that Palestinian officials say killed hundreds shortly before Biden's visit to Israel.
The U.S. used antiterrorism powers to impose fresh sanctions on nearly a dozen individuals and a Gaza-based cryptocurrency exchange the Treasury Department said are key financial facilitators for Hamas.
The sanctions, levied in the wake of the Hamas attack earlier this month against Israel, target officials and agents in Gaza, Sudan, Turkey, Algeria and Qatar allegedly involved in the group's secret $500 million investment portfolio, as well as a Gaza-based virtual currency exchange and its operator.
