The full Israeli cabinet approved the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release agreement expected to take effect on Sunday. Hamas is expected to release just three of its hostages on Sunday, while others are supposed to be freed in the coming weeks. The deal is also supposed to clear the way for more supplies for the people of Gaza.
After delays and hours of deliberations, the Israeli government approved the deal just after midnight on Saturday local time.
737 Palestinian prisoners are set to be released. 1,167 Palestinians who were arrested in Gaza during the war but did not participate in the Oct. 7 attacks, will also be released. “Dust and screams surrounded me,” he said, adding that his wife and three of his children were killed, including a daughter whom he said was a doctor.
