Hamas has released a video purportedly of three women taken hostage during 7 October attacks - a move condemned as cruel psychological propaganda by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. Palestinian sources have said Gaza has effectively been cut in two, as Israeli tanks amass at a key junction.

The president of Russia's Jewish Communities Federation has offered his thoughts on the recent video - see post 06.48 - which showed a mob in Dagestan storming an airport runway, reportedly chanting antisemitic slogans and looking for passengers on a flight from Tel Aviv.Video footage on social media showed people, mostly young men, running through Makhachkala airport in the southern region of Dagestan - many waving Palestinian flags - on Sunday evening.

Rabbi Alexander Boroda accused the authorities in Dagestan of being unprepared, and that they allowed 'large-scale' violations of law and open threats against Jews and Israelis. He said that anti-Israeli sentiment had festered to become open aggression against Russian Jews - before he called for the swift and harsh punishment of anyone involved. The riot 'undermined the basic foundations of our multicultural and multi-national state', he added.
