The Gaza militant group launched its biggest sustained assault in years, prompting Israel's military to call up reservists and order retaliatory strikes.
The Biden administration said Saturday it was still too early to tell if Iran played a role in the planning of Hamas’s attack, but there was “no doubt” Tehran has been providing support for Hamas in the form of funding and arms, a senior administration official said.
President Biden convened his national security team on Saturday looking for ways in which it could assist Israel following Saturday’s unprecedented attack by Hamas fighters. But the logistics of any such support could be hampered by the current crisis in the House of Representatives, the official said.
