Israel now faces a conflict on three fronts as Iran, Lebanon's Hezbollah, and Yemen's Houthis all launch strikes.
"In Lebanon: I have now instructed to further expand the existing security zone in order to finally thwart the threat of invasion and to push the anti-tank missile fire away from our border," Netanyahu said.
"Hezbollah still has a residual capability to launch rockets at us. What I discussed today with the commanders here are the ways to remove this threat as well."Late last month, the United States and Israel targeted key military targets in Iran and killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other government leaders. Iran responded by launching missiles and drones targeting Israel and several Gulf Arab states that host U.S. armed forces. The drones and missiles have hit Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Oman, damaging critical infrastructure and industries across the region. This has prompted several major producers of oil, helium, and aluminum, among other resources, to declare force majeure and forgo any obligations to fulfill contracts as the Iranenter the fray in recent days as they join Hezbollah, another key ally of Iran in the Middle East, saying they were retaliating for Israel's continued attacks against Iran and Lebanon, as well as the Palestinian territories. The group stressed its military intervention would continue until all"aggression" ends.in retaliation to the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes. The Israel Defense Forces intercepted those rockets, but the cross-border fighting only continued to intensify. Netanyahu issued a statement across his social media on Sunday, explaining Israel's forces have met the challenges of the escalating conflict and have managed to"change the face of the Middle East" at the cost of changing"our security concept." "We initiate, we attack, and we have created three security zones deep within enemy territory," he said."In Syria: From the Hermon ridge to the Yarmouk; in Gaza: In more than half of the Gaza Strip's territory; in Lebanon: I have now instructed to further expand the existing security zone in order to finally thwart the threat of invasion and to push the anti-tank missile fire away from our border.", and subsequently destroyed"thousands of Hezbollah terrorists" as well as"the immense threat of 150,000 missiles and rockets that were intended to destroy the cities of Israel." The"residual" ability of Hezbollah to continue threatening Israel, which could ultimately strain the nation's forces and resources now that the Houthis have started launching attacks, and Iran continues to use what missiles it has against Israel, remains a concern that Israel must handle. "A word to the residents of the North," Netanyahu said."I am aware of your great hardship. I have instructed government ministries to assist you very generously. I ask of you, as I ask of all of you, citizens of Israel: Continued patience, continued steadfastness.""We are achieving great accomplishments, achievements that are creating visible cracks in the terrorist regime in Tehran. Iran is not the same Iran, Hezbollah is not the same Hezbollah, and Hamas is not the same Hamas. These are no longer terrorist armies that threaten our existence; these are battered enemies fighting for their own survival. Instead of them surprising us, we are surprising them.""We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran ... Protecting, at the highest level, our Middle Eastern Allies, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and others." Tony Blair, former British prime minister, in a statement issued on his institute's website last week: “You cannot pretend that Israel does not face a substantial terrorist threat from Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, the Iranian regime, and other groups that do not recognize Israel’s right to exist.”, ours is different: The Courageous Center—it's not"both sides," it's sharp, challenging and alive with ideas.
