Sky News contributor Michael Ware has discussed Israel's military operation in Gaza as conflict continues to escalate.
Mr Ware's comments come as the Israeli military announced that ground troops had encircled Gaza City on Thursday night.“It's clear they are meeting a lot of opposition, but a full-blown invasion has not yet begun. These are significant incursions – in fact you could call them blocking operations," he told Sky News Australia.
“By moving in from at least three sides that surround Gaza City itself the troops have not advanced into the metropolis but they have taken up positions around the city. “Right now the Israelis I think are trying to shape the battlefield, hem in as much as Hamas as they can, and to test, test and retest how Hamas is going to react.”
