An animated sci-fi comedy about a man who discovers a forgotten government experiment island and turns it into a resort with the help of its friendly mutant inhabitants, all while evading military capture.
The upcoming adult animated sci-fi comedy film Isla Monstro presents a whimsical yet chaotic premise: after a man named Duke falls overboard from a cruise ship, he stumbles upon a top-secret government island abandoned following a failed 1980s DARPA super soldier project.
The island, Isla Monstro, is inhabited by a variety of monstrous experiments-mutants and creatures with unusual abilities and eccentric personalities. Contrary to expectations, these experiments are surprisingly cordial and open to collaboration. Duke sees an extraordinary business opportunity: transforming the island into a luxury resort. He enlists the experiments as staff, leveraging their unique traits for an unforgettable guest experience.
However, the venture is fraught with danger, not only from the island's inherent unpredictability but also from the military's intent to retake the island and its secrets. The film blends elements of workplace comedy, as the newly hired mutant employees navigate their roles, despite having ample pirate gold and no financial need.
Executive produced by Mike De Trana and Brian Volk-Weiss, and produced by Shea and Anna Roberts, Isla Monstro is written by Shea and James Schrader, features over 86 minutes of original music by Rob Reider, and boasts illustrations by Logan Van Der Wolf, Zia Izzy, Elly Karipides, and Chickenz. The franchise is set to expand into a comic series, a video game app, and a merchandise line.
The film will be released on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, and more on June 30, 2026
