In the waning days of the election, President-elect Donald Trump promised to protect women, whether they like it or not. It was a strange cultural moment, as so many are these days.
Girls in schools across the country have reported having the phrase yelled at them by male classmates. One in three women in America has experienced sexual violence. Take a moment to imagine what it feels like for a woman or girl who has survived an attack to see this phrase — this threat — become part of our popular culture. But, post-election, our outrage has been drained into acceptance or maybe numbness. For the moment, anyway.
