In one of music’s buzziest nights, the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards is set to mark its 40th anniversary. NBC’s Chloe Melas reports for TODAY on what’s in store Wednesday night — and looks back at some of the most memorable moments.
When Taylor Swift arrived at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, fans immediately started to analyze her outfit. Swift walked the black carpet in a yellow and black plaid look accessorized with long, leather fingerless gloves and thigh-high leather boots. She was styled by Joseph Cassell Falconer in the corset dress designed by Christian Dior, Check The Tag reports. Online, Swifties immediately began to speculate that the pop star is returning to her “Reputation” era.
” It would not be the first time Swift would use an award ceremony to reveal and promote an upcoming album. Earlier this year at the Grammy Awards, she announced “The Tortured Poets Department” after winning best pop album. Fans thought some of her hints for that album were for “Reputation ” — but it was all a misdirect. In fact, Swifties have believed that the pop star was announcing “Rep ” so many times in the past that they have dubbed falling for it “clowning.
