Mayor Turner says TEA has 'chosen' Mike Miles as new HISD superintendent, calls for TEA transparency
The mayor said the process has been"flawed and anti-democratic," criticizing the state for providing little transparency to parents, school personnel and the press.
“It is absolutely appalling to see the approach that is being taken by TEA in disregard to the parents, students and teachers of this district,” she said. “I’m sure these appointees will be well intentioned citizens who want to do good. But, the only good that will be done will be whatever the TEA Commissioner and the Governor wants them to do.""This should be about the people of HISD, not politics," she said.
If the TEA does appoint Miles as superintendent, Anderson said she worries it might prompt an exodus in the district.
