now takes the reins. Dallas’ offense wasn’t productive even prior to Prescott’s exit. The Cowboys never drove inside Tampa’s 30-yard line. They scored a league-low three points, and their 244 total yards of offense were the third-lowest mark across the NFL. Head coachhad some choice words for offensive coordinator Kellen Moore on Friday. Moore shouldn’t be on the hot seat, but McCarthy’s statement may suggest otherwise.
McCarthy said Moore has to be “smarter” as a play caller moving forward given Prescott’s absence, via“In Kellen’s time as a coordinator, he’s been able to play very, very aggressively,” McCarthy. “But we’re in a phase right now where we have to be a little smarter in certain situations. That’s all part of growing as a play-caller,” McCarthy concluded.
Moore’s job should be secure, but could McCarthy be searching for a fall guy should things continue going haywire for this Cowboys offense? Moore oversaw the most productive offense in the entire league last season. The Cowboys ranked first in yards gained per contest , second in passing yards per game , and first in points scored per game .
Moore wasn’t at the forefront of Dallas’ turbulent offseason decisions, particularly in regards to their offensive personnel. It wasn’t Moore’s decision to trade No. 1 receiver
