Is The Continental a worthy John Wick successor?

The Continental is set over 40 years before the John Wick series and details the origin story of Winston Scott, Ian McShane's New York Continental manager from the John Wick films.
That said, it was always a tough ask for The Continental to be as good as, if not better, than the John Wick films. The latter series has been consistently well-received since 2014, with many placing it as one of the greatest pure action franchises of all time. With The Continental shifting focus from a straight-up action movie to a more intrigue-based, espionage-style show with action elements, it was always going to be tough to beat the John Wick movies in any sense.
Woodell nails the cadence and sound of a young Ian McShane with ease while also imbuing him with a sense of naivety that is not found in the John Wick films to make the character more relatable. Ben Robson, Mishel Prada, Mel Gibson, Jessica Allain, and Nhung Kate are all standouts too with compelling characters that fit into the world of John Wick very well.
