The game night density issue is solvable, but it will likely take a considerable financial commitment to fix it.
and American Airlines Center COO Dave Brown agree that urban density has made it more difficult for fans on game and concert nights, but they say the problem has nothing to do with the number of parking spaces.
Brown said AAC operations officials work closely with the city of Dallas. Making some driving lanes reversible and altering traffic-light sequencing helped, Brown said, but the COVID-19 pandemic dealt an unforeseen setback: Fewer fans took DART and rideshare to and from the arena.“Now we’re trying to rebuild that ridership because that takes a huge burden off the streets,” Brown said.
When later asked if the idea involves adding pedestrian or sky bridges between parking garages and the arena, Alberts said, “Yes, that’s something that we would look at.”
