According to a tax professional, there are some things to keep an eye out for to help your tax filing process go smoothly this year. “I don’t need it like I used to need it,” Utahn Brent Cook said. “But I think my kids would need it.”“I’m more concerned that the IRS laid off people,” Cook said. “I’m not overly concerned they are going to have to pay me back sooner than later.”She said tax season is a busy time for the IRS.Utah Workforce Services offers aid to laid-off federal employees Rankin said right now it’s probably best to avoid using paper to file your taxes, and file your taxes online instead. “If you paper file, then the IRS agents have to manually input all of that into their systems,” Rankin said. She said it’s important to double check your tax document’s accuracy to avoid any confusion that requires personal assistance — but also don’t take too long to get it done.While each person’s tax situation is unique, Rankin said she expects national tax policy to be affected down the line. She said she questions how the cuts will impact tax laws, regulations and budgets. “My bigger concern as a tax professional and watching this unfold is not the current year tax season,” Rankin said.
