Irondequoit, N.Y. — The Irondequoit Town Board hosted its first full meeting since a sexual harassment investigation against Town Supervisor Andraé Evans came to light.Irondequoit board, residents react to sexual harassment report against town supervisor Tensions started off high before the meeting could even officially begin, as members of the community arrived with signs showing support for the town board. "Chief Peters, are you refusing to ask these citizens to remove the signs so the meeting can start? Yes or no?" Evans asked Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters. Peters responded, "It's their First Amendment right. Hit the gavel and see what happens. If they continue to disrupt the meeting after that, we'll see what happens. For right now, it's their First Amendment right. I refuse to violate their First Amendment rights."The meeting then moved to a public input session, allowing residents to voice their thoughts. "The statement from the supervisor downplayed this," resident Maria Nicchitta said. in part stating that he needed to apologize if his words, I quote from Mr. Evans statement, 'if my words were heard in either an inappropriate or diminishing way by anyone.'
