Yet Ukraine struggled to break through the summit's Middle East agenda despite a major Russian assault.

Hours before the summit began, Russia launched hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles at Ukrainian cities, killing at least 11 people and setting fire to a religious landmark.joined G7 leaders for a morning working session Tuesday, but discussions concluded after just 75 minutes, according to the French G7 presidency. Still, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, now in its fifth year, has increasingly been eclipsed by developments in the Middle East. The United States has scaled back some assistance to Kyiv, while France and its European allies have become the largest providers of military and financial support to Ukraine.
