Iran-backed fighters on alert in eastern Syria, vows 'revenge' if the US launches more air strikes in the war-torn country
Iranian Consultative Center in Syria warns the US against carrying out further strikes in Syria, saying its forces"we will have to retaliate."
The airstrikes came after a suspected Iran-made drone killed a US contractor and wounded six other Americans on Thursday. While it is not the first time the US and Syria-based militia have traded strikes, the attack and the US response threaten to upend recent efforts to deescalate tensions across the wider Middle East, whose rival powers have made steps toward détente in recent days after years of turmoil.
It said the strike killed seven people and wounded seven others without giving the nationalities of the dead. An official with an Iran-backed group in Iraq said the strikes killed seven Iranians.
