JAKARTA: Outgoing President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has been racing against all odds to unveil Indonesia's future capital Nusantara in East Kalimantan, just in time for the nation's 79th Independence Day anniversary on Saturday (Aug 17).
A. Kalaiahmuthan nodded and stated he understood the charge after it was read to him before Magistrate S. Punitha on Friday .According to the charge, the accused was arrested on Aug 7 at about 8.40pm at a house on Jalan Gurney in Buntong for trafficking drugs.
The charge is framed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B of the same Act with the death penalty, or life imprisonment and not less than 12 strokes of the cane, if convicted. Deputy public prosecutor Vatchira Wong Rui Fern prosecuted while lawyer Arifah Zakiah Badruzzaman represented the accused.The media previously reported that police had busted a drug processing laboratory in Buntong near here following the arrest of one man and seized drugs worth RM337,683.
