𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his jail cell at the Boksburg North police station on August 12.
According to IPID spokesperson Lizzy Suping, two police officers responded to a domestic violence complaint. CPF members were on the scene and pointed out the suspect to the officers. The complainant allegedly claimed that his son, aged about 44 years, assaulted him.Later on, the son was declared dead in his cell by paramedics, who were there responding to another case.
Suping said a post-mortem was conducted on August 15 and IPID will pronounce the outcome once the investigation is complete.
