The Hawkeyes beat their 2023 NCAA championship game opponent tonight, and will now advance to the Final Four for the second straight season.
The Iowa Hawkeyes beat the mighty LSU Tigers, their 2023 NCAA championship game nemeses, tonight in a high-scoring 94-87 affair, behind an epic 41-point, 12-assist, seven-rebound line from superstar senior point guard Caitlin Clark.Last year, LSU bested Iowa 102-85 in an epic title fight. Then-junior forward Angel Reese was named the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player in the victory. This year, the Hawkeyes had the upper hand, thanks largely to the efforts of Clark.
Eventually, the two sides were exchanging buckets with abandon. The first half of the matchup ended with the game all tied up, 45-45. Reese finished the half with 13 points and eight boards. The third quarter marked the moment everything changed, more or less for good. Clark scored four of her nine triples in the period.Reese enjoyed a strong night but had trouble avoiding the ire of referees. She did notch a 17-point, 20-rebound night in what might be her final college game ever .
