The Walking Dead has been on TV since 2010 and has expanded into a universe with multiple shows, but one huge problem nearly killed the series.
Invincible season 1, episode 6, is arguably the most filler-based episode of the series, yet it still manages to flesh out the difficulties of being a student and a hero while also progressing Mark and Amber's complicated relationship. The Amazon show is great at utilizing its cast and having multiple stories on the go in comparison to Kirkman's other hit series. Some entire seasons of The Walking Dead can feel too slow, with most of the action happening during the premieres of finales.
The slow-paced, scattered storytelling was one of the contributing factors behind audiences growing tired of the show and viewership declining. The Walking Dead had some of the best characters on TV at the time, but they were unable to flourish due to the show's poor pacing. Some of the more interesting stories were paused for several weeks to focus on more minor plots, which became frustrating and hurt the show.
