An employee of the Baker County Sheriff’s Office was arrested after an investigation found that she had a relationship with an inmate and was providing the inmate contraband and privileged information, authorities announced.
During the investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office, it was revealed that Evelyn Rhodes, a control room operator who worked for several years in the Baker County Detention Center, developed a relationship with an inmate in the facility.
“Information gathered by inspectors revealed that Rhodes had been providing the inmate with contraband and privileged information only accessible to an employee of BCSO and in direct interference with an active investigation,”On Friday morning, Rhodes was stopped by jail inspectors and Sheriff’s Office detectives as she entered the facility, and after being questioned by the investigators, the jail staff member was arrested, according to BCSO.
Rhodes, 58, is charged with one felony count of disclosing confidential criminal justice information and two misdemeanor counts of introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
