Experts continue to sound the alarm over a small invasive insect that has decimated thousands of oak trees across Southern California.
Thursday, May 30, 2024 12:59AMRIVERSIDE, Calif. --Nevertheless, entomologists continue to sound the alarm about the goldspotted oak borer, an invasive insect that some experts believe has killed more than 80,000 oak trees across Southern California.
"They spend most of their life hidden under the bark of the oak tree. The larva causes the destruction which ultimately lead to the tree's mortality." But given the wildfire threat, as well as the threat to public safety, taking down dead oak trees is a necessity.
