The presence of an invasive wood-boring pest that kills ash trees was recently confirmed in Cooke County, making it the twelfth Texas county the pest has been found in since it was first detected in Texas in 2016.“EAB is a major threat to urban, suburban and rural forests as it aggressively kills ash trees within two to three years after infestation,” Smith said.
EAB first was detected in Texas in Harrison County and has since been confirmed in Bowie, Cass, Dallas, Denton, Marion, Morris, Parker, Rusk, Tarrant, Titus and Wise counties.
