Durazzi Milano is the new women's collection of Ilenia Durazzi, a Polimoda grad with menswear stints at Balenciaga, Maison Margiela, and Tod’s.
Experience has given Durazzi a mature point of view on today’s marketplace, and with no lack of drive or ambition, she’s positioning her brand at the high-end of the fashion spectrum. “I’d call it a sort of new classic,” said Durazzi. Born in 1989, she has a young, slightly offbeat take on the subject. “My generation dreams of things beautifully made that stand the test of time,” she said. “I like good design, be it a piece of furniture, a house, or a space.
The brand actually stemmed from her desire to update the rather dusty codes of classic riding attire. She patented a few technical innovations that she also introduced into her main fashion line. A cropped quilted jacket in a high-quality stretch fabric is suitable both for horseback riding and for the everyday; a tweedy greatcoat can be worn over a stretchy onesie.
