Last Tuesday’s gubernatorial primary election included races for local school, city and county offices, statewide offices, and seats in the state Assembly and Senate as well as Congress. The two top vote-getters in each race advance to the general election in November. Here’s a look at how San Diegans voted in a handful of closely watched races:About one in four of San Diego County’s 1,933,896 registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s primary election.

The top issues in the race including how to best address homelessness, where and how to develop affordable housing and what to do about public safety.Democratic Councilmember Jennifer Campbell and Republican challenger Linda Lukacs took the top two spots in Tuesday’s primary and will advance to a November runoff, an unexpected ending to one of the hottest local races this spring.
