Western Sydney looks set to swelter through days of high temperatures as a low-intensity heatwave sweeps across Australia’s southeast.

Residents in several densely populated Sydney suburbs look set to experience sky-high temperatures from Sunday as a low-intensity heatwave makes its way across Australia’s south-east corner.

“That heatwave will gradually push further eastwards through the next few days, running across Victoria and into southeast NSW,” he explained. “The target at the moment is South Australia, that’s where we have seen the hottest weather thus far but it is gradually going to push eastwards through the next few days,” Sharpe said.

“Yesterday it got to 36 degrees in Adelaide … through the night it was really South Australia which saw the target of that heat, Adelaide’s warmest November night since 2017, staying above 26 degrees all night long. A heatwave warning remains in place this weekend for vast swathes of Victoria and parts of south-east NSW.
