The Core i5-12400 is fast shaping up to be a stunning gaming processor for less than $200
I reported earlier today about some impressive performance numbers for Intel's upcoming low and mid-range 12th Gen CPUs showing it will be a force to be reckoned with around $200. We now have some even more exiting numbers courtesy of chil11eddog on Twitter , who posted a particularly interesting gaming performance graph concerning the Core i5-12400.
The graph below shows gaming performance in give games at 2,560 x 1,440 using an Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti and here, it offers slightly better performance than the previous CPU flagship - the Core i9-11900K, which would have set you back $500 when new.@g01d3nm4ng0 The new Core i5-12400, though, will cost less than $200 if you buy the 'KF' version that lacks integrated graphics, making it a potentially stunning choice for a budget system, especially if paired with one of the new cheaper motherboards for Intel's 12th Gen CPUs landing soon.
While you might argue that there's more load on the graphics card at this relatively high resolution, which could explain the similar frame rates, the fact that the same situation is seen in all games, especially Far Cry 6 which I've personally found to offer decent scaling on CPUs even at 1440, means that we could be looking at a seriously fast gaming CPU.
