Logging on to Instagram for fitness inspiration may actually be having the opposite effect on women, according to new research.
Some of the women were then asked to exercise by completing ten minutes of walking on a treadmill, while others did no exercise and were asked to quietly rest. In addition, the women who had exercised after viewing #fitspiration images reported feeling like they had “worked harder,” but they actually didn’t walk any further on the treadmill than the women who had viewed the #travel images.
“Despite their positive intentions and popularity, #fitspiration images are yet another way to make women feel worse about themselves and their bodies.”
