in the horror franchise, wants you to know that it's taking things back to its roots. Its newest trailer features the return of a familiar antagonist.
As we can see in the footage, the film returns to the Lambert family from the first two films, with Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne reprising their roles as Josh and Renai, respectively. Ty Simpkins is also back as their son Dalton, now grown-up. While Dalton had no memory of what happened in those previous encounters, he's started having horrific nightmares. Josh and Renai realise that they've got no choice but to tell their son the truth — especially as the supernatural terrors are wreaking havoc once again.
