Latest Boomtown Festival line-up news - and the inside track on Chapter 2: The Twin Trail storyline
The 2023 festival season is now in full swing, but one event that has always dared to be different is still playing its cards close to its chest. Between August 9 and 13, Boomtown will welcome tens of thousands of 'citizens' and performers to its pop-up city near Winchester in Hampshire’s chalk hills.
But, as it prepares to celebrate its 15th birthday in its own inimitable style, Boomtown is still yet to announce its full line-up. And other details about this immersive and kaleidoscopic celebration of counterculture remain largely under wraps. However, Boomtown has never been your average festival. Alongside the music and performing arts, there is a three-day long 'treasure hunt'. This sees festival attendees follow clues and complete quests to unravel a hidden narrative.
This will tell the next 'chapter' in a storyline that is told - if you look hard enough - around this magical metropolis's labyrinth of thoroughfares, alleyways and secret doorways... This all creates a parallel world that lives for just five days and nights to confront society as we know it - and to inspire a better reality.
It's a world where the game is the master, and you are the player. Where the choices you make, shape the story you unfold.While some details about Boomtown's districts have now been released, regular attendees will also be wondering whether the districts will be concentrated in the 'bowl' like they were in 2022... or if there will be more stages and arenas in and on the Matterley Estate's other hills and valleys, like there were in previous years.
