The offering is on a third of an acre lot, after initially entering the market in 2014 for $9.
Built in 1960, the mid-century modern home was constructed by Bob Alexander, who constructed more than 2,000 homes in the area and was considered a formative influence on the development of Palm Springs. This five-bedroom, five-bath house captures the essence of the era with sharply angled roof lines and a curvilinear living room. It was featured in an eight-page spread in Look Magazine’s September 1962 issue as “The House Of Tomorrow.
The curved living room combines floor-to-ceiling windows either side of centered stone wall. The upper row of windows are each a unique size to allow for the slope of the roof. Four intersecting pods create the main design of the home, with an upper level dedicated to a circular master bedroom overlooking the landscaped grounds.
An indoor fire pit in the living room uses a hood-like chimney to funnel rising smoke out of the house.
