The NBA icon’s portfolio spans everything from his infamous Chicago mega-mansion to a growing compound in Florida’s exclusive Bear’s Club community.

Michael Jordan may have retired from the NBA more than 20 years ago, but his empire is still putting up championship numbers. The Chicago Bulls icon spent the ’80s and ’90s collecting six titles, five MVP trophies, and 10 scoring crowns, helping transform basketball from a popular sport into a worldwide phenomenon.

Retirement, as it turns out, was just another career move. Jordan has written the ultimate playbook for post-career success, transforming his name into a multibillion-dollar empire. Anchored by the cultural phenomenon that is Nike’s Jordan Brand, his portfolio spans from Cincoro Tequila and DraftKings to the fast lane of NASCAR with 23XI Racing, driving his estimated net worth to a staggering $4.3 billion.

(He even cashed in on a massive $3 billion valuation when he These days, MJ’s schedule is a masterclass in balance—managing his business ventures, sinking birdies on the golf course, giving back through philanthropy, and holding down court at home with his wife, Yvette Prieto, and their twin daughters. Naturally, he travels in style, floating between his custom Gulfstream jet, superyachts, and a Unsurprisingly, his real estate portfolio is every bit as impressive.

From the custom-built Illinois mansion synonymous with his Bulls dynasty to a rugged Utah mountain retreat, serene North Carolina lakefront estates, and an ever-expanding mega-compound in Jupiter’s elite Bear’s Club, Jordan’s homes offer a peek into the luxurious evolution of a sports icon turned global tycoon. Not long after marrying his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, in 1989, Jordan bought a sprawling penthouse overlooking Lake Michigan in Chicago for about $3 million.

The roughly 8,000-square-foot residence combined multiple units across two floors, offering four bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths, a glass-wrapped solarium, a media room with a built-in humidor, and a private rooftop terrace designed for entertaining. It became the couple’s primary in-city home during Jordan’s championship years with the Bulls. Following Jordan and Vanoy’s 2006 divorce, ownership of the penthouse was transferred to her as part of the settlement. She ultimately sold the residence in 2014 for $3.2 million.

At the height of his NBA career, Jordan and Vanoy paid about $2 million for a 7.4-acre parcel in Chicago’s North Shore suburb of Highland Park and spent the next several years creating what would become his most famous residence. Completed in the mid-1990s, the custom-built estate known as Champions Point spans roughly 56,000 square feet—slightly larger than the White House—and was tailored to Jordan’s lifestyle, featuring nine bedrooms, a regulation-size basketball court emblazoned with the Air Jordan logo, a cigar room, theater, library, gym, putting green, tennis court, circular infinity pool, and the now-iconic front gate displaying his No. 23 jersey number.

The property became synonymous with Jordan himself, but that uniqueness ultimately made it a difficult sell. He first listed the estate for $29 million in 2012, and despite renewed attention fromminiseries, it lingered on the market for more than a decade through a series of price cuts. In December 2024, longtime Chicago Bulls fan and real estate investor John Cooperthe mansion for $9.5 million, less than a third of its original asking price.

Since then, Cooper has attempted to reinvent the property through luxury rentals, aAs his playing days wound down, Jordan expanded west with a vacation home in Park City, Utah. In 2007, an Illinois-based entity tied to the NBA legend paid $7.9 million for a nearly four-acre mountain estate overlooking the Glenwild Golf Club and the Wasatch Mountains.

The contemporary retreat, which spans roughly 9,500 square feet, features five bedrooms, a theater, a gym, a golf simulator, an infinity-edge pool, and high-end finishes ranging from Italian marble to Swiss pearwood. Jordan held the property for more than a decade before listing it for $7.5 million in 2019. The scenic getaway ultimately sold in December 2020. Jordan’s next real estate move coincided with a major personal milestone.

Shortly after meeting Prieto in Miami in 2008, the couple snapped up a relatively modest suburban home in the coastal city for around $281,000. Compared with the mega-estates elsewhere in his portfolio, the three-bedroom property was understated, serving more as a private retreat during the early years of their relationship. The purchase predated their 2013 marriage and came before the couple made South Florida their primary base.

Jordan returned to his home state of North Carolina in a major way in 2010 when he became the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, now the Hornets. That same year, he spent about $3.15 million on two top-floor condos in uptown Charlotte, combining them into a single residence spanning roughly 7,000 square feet. To maximize privacy, he even installed a private elevator directly into the unit.

Although he sold his majority stake in the team in 2023, he has held onto the apartment. A few years later, Jordan added a very different North Carolina property to his collection—an estate on Lake Norman near Cornelius. He acquired the foreclosed mansion in 2013 for $2.8 million after it had previously belonged to drag-racing star Doug Herbert.

The 12,000-plus-square-foot home sat on a peninsula-like parcel with water views from nearly every angle and included six bedrooms, extensive entertainment spaces, a sauna, game rooms, and a private pier. More recently, the original house was, with plans for a new custom home on the site, suggesting Jordan intends to maintain a long-term presence on Lake Norman rather than sell the property..

He purchased a three-acre lot in the Jack Nicklaus-developed enclave and built a roughly 28,000-square-foot mansion that reportedly cost millions more to customize after construction. The estate includes multiple guest accommodations, a basketball court, athletic facilities, high-tech security features, and a cigar-friendly media room.

The property remains the family’s primary residence and places them among a roster of elite neighbors that has included Tiger Woods and Jordan expanded his Bear’s Club footprint again in 2024 when an LLC tied to him purchased a second home within the community for $17 million. The contemporary residence spans roughly 9,100 square feet and includes five bedrooms, a guest house, pool, spa, gym, club room, and expansive indoor-outdoor living spaces.

The property had originally been listed for $18.5 million, allowing Jordan to secure a modest discount.
